Black History Fact Of The Day

Before his death Johnnie Cochran, along with attorney Charles Ogletree, represented the survivors of the attack that caused the obliteration of what was called “Black Wall Street.”

The plaintiffs sought compensation in the form of educational and health-care resources for the current-day residents of the area.

According to Wikipedia: “The federal district and appellate courts dismissed the suit citing the statute of limitations, and the Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal. In April 2007, Ogletree appealed to the U.S. Congress to pass a bill extending the statute of limitations for the case.”
