Prolific inventor Granville T. Woods’s inventions included the trolley streetcar. He also received a patent for his device that combined the telephone and the telegraph. Alexander Graham Bell bought this patent from Mr. Woods. Granville Woods used the profits from this sale to further fund his research and inventions.
