THROWBACK POST: Book Excerpt Of The Week- Part 2: “Developing Positive Self-Images & Discipline In Black Children” By: Jawanza Kunjufu

“One place to see what America values, is in what their schools teach. If you want to be an engineer, doctor, accountant, etc., there are schools for that; but what if you want to be a father, mother, husband, or wife there are few, if any, schools. The importance of child rearing and marriage is left to guesswork, trial and error, and whatever you picked up from your parents. The values and priorities in America emphasize career and money, not family stability. Ironically, most employers admit the tremendous loss of employee productivity due to family problems.” -From, “Developing Positive Self-Images & Discipline In Black Children” By: Jawanza Kunjufu
