Book Excerpt Of The Week, Part 1: “Black Woman Redefined” By: Sophia A. Nelson

“The crux of any meaningful relationship begins with your mind. True relationships are formed over time and are worth their weight in gold. Too often today people treat one another as if they are cars on a lot to be bought and sold. Clearly the Creator didn’t design ‘test drives’ or ‘short-term leases’ for human beings. Man did, which should tell you a lot. But I say to you, hold onto your value: Don’t become someone’s ‘used’ ride.

If ever there was a time to keep your head on straight about self-love and knowing who you are, it’s now…One of my favorite life-lines comes from the Old-Testament, and it’s found in Proverbs 4:23, which says, ‘Above all things guard your heart for it is a wellspring of life.’ The directive is this: Guard your mind with meticulous care, for it is the center from which your every action comes. Remember, your purpose in life cannot be altered unless you allow other people or thins to control you. So your role as you travel this journey is to be the gatekeeper to your sacred space and keep home ever before you.” -From, “Black Woman Redefined” By: Sophia A. Nelson
