In 1989, Dr. Philip Emeagwali won the Gordon Bell Prize for his work with computers. He won this award by programming a computer to compute a world record 3.1 billion calculations per second. Dr. Emeagwali is also a prolific inventor whose inventions include the hyperball computer.
