In the acknowledgements section of her autobiography, Nina Simone thanks a “Frances Welsing.” I wonder if Nina Simone was referring to the great psychologist and author of “The Isis Papers,” Dr. Frances Cress Welsing. Nina Simone was a political activist who had friendships with a lot of scholars and great thinkers. It wouldn’t be too far-fetched if these two women were friends.
